Lady Parts Justice League Supports the Release of Activist Alejandra Pablos from Immigration Detention
Posted on April 19, 2018
Immigrant Rights and Reproductive Justice activist Alejandra Pablos has been detained at Eloy Detention Center in Arizona for over a month and will appear before a judge today, April 19th. The following statement is issued today by Lizz Winstead, Founder and Chief Creative Officer at Lady Parts Justice League:
Lady Parts Justice League petitions the court to release Alejandra Pablos from immigration detention and urges the judge at her bond hearing to take into consideration Alejandra’s deep impact in our communities. I had the privilege of meeting Ms. Pablos on the set of a photo shoot for BUST magazine featuring prominent leaders in the Reproductive Rights and Justice movements. Ms. Pablos was one of the featured subjects because of her incredible work as a Field Coordinator for the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH), where she works to ensure that Latina communities in Virginia have access to comprehensive reproductive health care. I was immediately moved by Alejandra’s warmth and commitment to her work, which not only involves reproductive care, but also immigrant rights and dignity for all people.
Alejandra is truly a vital force and we look to her leadership in the Reproductive Justice movement. Alejandra has made a deep impact in our communities and in the movements for reproductive rights, criminal justice reform, and immigrant rights around the country. We fully support her release from immigration detention.
